For years i've been painting digitally (or at least attempting to..) with Paint Shop.
Was never quite satisfied with results as i've always had a lot of trouble with preserving my scanned pencils. The thing i've been doing recently is just changing the hue of my pencils and adding a bit of background. This is what i've done with most of my recent deviations.
But thing i've noticed about a lot of other people's deviations is that they paint UNDER their pencils/inks. To my ultimate frustration i could not figure out how to do it with Paint Shop.
Still can't.
I've for a while had in my possesion the Adobe Suite CS3 wich i use for my webdesigns. I've used and am quite proficient with Illustrator, Flash and Dreamweaver (wich is not a great program though).
But i never used PhotoShop because for most simple image alterations my Paint Shop (Pro Photo X2) was quite sufficient and i didn't want to learn a very different GUI for what i thought was no reason.
But then i came across this tutorial : [link] on Manga University wich finally showed my how to paint under my pencils. Thank God, i've finally figured it out!
Better late than never i guess...
But the odd thing is that this only possible in PhotoShop (so far as i can tell) because you need to be able to isolate the channels. The only thing you can do in Paint Shop is seperate the channels wich is fun with photo's totally useless for PAINTING!
Well that's weird right? Paint Shop is better for photo's and PhotoShop is better for painting.
Yeah that makes sense...

And, thank you for compliments, they are very motivating!
I don't run upon photography very much,
but I enjoy taking some amateurISH photos from time to time
and it's nice to hear that someone fave one of them(cutie is my fave too).
I had a look at your profile and saw that we like many similar things (including drinking Earl Grey
I like people who appreciate truly valuable things, it tells so much about them.
Interesting ID - it is great that you returned to your dream. Can't wait to see the most awesome-est sci-fi psychedelic modern mythology comic book!
peace out
Yeah i noticed we like similar things too, including even internet piracy
hmm maybe i shouldn't say that online?
Me and Goof's dream comic book is still far away but i am currently working on making some pictures about my favourite book - "the Jesus Incident" (it's not really about Jesus btw, it's about a spaceship that thinks it's God)- that has a lot of themes i like so i'm building the dream one step at a time.
You please keep doing the drawing studies, i just noticed your Rembrant-pic, very impressive!

Better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a pig satisfied.
btw: your motto reminds me of "Satisfied Fool",have you ever seen that? It's just a silly show about a dumb guy who tries to get smarter. When an intellectual (Will Self, bit of an arse tho) asks him wether he would rather be the satisfied pig or Socrates dissatisfied he answers: the pig. Then Self says : ok then f**k off and stop wasting my time!
Was quite funny but i personally tend more towards Diogenes' "live life as a dog" school of thought - but both Diogenes and Socrates liked challenging know-it-alls and for that i admire them both.
